Liu Dahong's current work turns this folkloric treatment on its axis and returns it to a historical, even to a
dynastic space. He now assimilates historical events from Maoist times to a peasant's agricultural calendar with the years
of People's China now given as if a reign date. This may imply that the reign period can end or even that the dynasty
can be overthrown, but it also assimilates the communist regime's rule to a traditional structure of time and calendrical cycles.
